With over 110 years’ experience in the funeral business, Tapper Funeral Service has earned a trusted reputation across southern England for providing excellent service when it’s needed most.
They contacted b4b as their large website needed a complete overhaul. The sheer size of the website was a particular challenge and it needed to provide information on both parts of their service – Tapper Funeral Service and Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground.
Following a discussion with the client, it was decided a bespoke website built on our own CMS (content management system) was the best option.
We were able to build a website for Tapper Funeral Services that gave families the ability to search for and book a funeral service. We worked closely with Tapper's own technical team to achieve this.
When visitors arrive at the Tapper website, they come to a landing page that details the two websites for Tapper Funeral Service and Harbour View so they can clearly identify which one to visit.
In designing the look and feel for the websites, we had to ensure that they would work well next to each other on this page and be strong enough to stand alone too.
As the websites deal with sensitive topics, we were careful to choose calming and subtle imagery so as not to overpower the site. The websites are clearly laid out in different sections and sub-pages so that visitors can easily navigate the site and find the information they need.
The colour schemes for each site were also considered carefully and muted tones of taupe and beige were chosen for the Tapper website and for Harbour View, tones of green to reflect the stunning location of the burial ground – both colour schemes complement the layout and imagery well.
A major feature that Tapper wanted for their website was the ability for people to search for details such as locations, dates and times of funeral services. As the website was built on our bespoke CMS, we were able to integrate with an API link that shows details of the services. We worked closely with Tapper's own technical team to achieve this.
The website also has bespoke functionality that allows family members to log in to a page of remembrance for a loved one and share pictures, memories and add a note to a remembrance book. A unique landing page and password that can be shared with the family is created for each person in remembrance. Visitors can also leave a donation to be made in memory of a loved one. This was achieved via a custom integration.
Part of the Tapper Funeral business is Living Stones, a headstone retail arm that we designed a product catalogue website for. This is a stand-alone website, but we also built the content into the main website so that families can consider headstone options when planning the funeral itself.
All three Tapper websites are informative and packed with useful information to guide families at such a difficult time. Our copywriting team were particular with the language they used and ensured that all topics were covered so that the websites can be used as a point of reference.
